Corena Marais

Corena is the wife of the late Simon Marais – Founder of South Endeavour and Allan Gray Australia and previous Chairman of Allan Gray South Africa. Together they have been involved in nature conservation for many years, creating private conservation reserves in South Africa and Australia.

Martin Marais

Martin is currently working at Wentworth Williamson as a portfolio manager. He has been with the company since 2016, prior to this he did an internship at Stonehage Fleming. He graduated from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Commerce and Applied Finance, majoring in Accounting

Tim Hughes, B.Sc.(Hons) B.A.(Hons) M.Nat.Res.

Tim has had very wide experience as an economist, writer and company director. He has had over thirty years of experience in senior roles in the Australian investment management industry and wrote a weekly economics and finance column for the Courier-Mail from 1995 to 2013. He started his working career with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and has had a lifetime interest in conservation. He was on the Board of the NSW Nature Conservation Trust from 2003 to 2011 and was Chair from 2006 to 2011.  Tim has directed the day to day operations of South Endeavour since 2011.

Ben Marais, MD. PhD

Ben is a paediatrician and infectious diseases expert. He is Deputy Director of the Marie Bashir Institute for Infectious Diseases and Biosecurity at the University of Sydney. As a paediatrician he has had a long standing interest in our environmental legacy, particularly the need to preserve ecosystem resilience and to value the essential services that healthy ecosystems provide.

André Brink, CPA

André is the Financial Director of the Trust. He has extensive experience in advising international corporations and many years’ experience dealing with charitable organisations.
